Habibi Tour and Travels, a private travel company based in Kolkata, has been accused of cheating several individuals out of lakhs of rupees in the name of providing Umrah packages. The company's owner, who is now hospitalized, is facing allegations of not sending dozens of people to Umrah after collecting full payment from them.
According to reports, a complaint was filed at the Beniyapukur police station by individuals who had paid for the Umrah packages. The complainants stated that they were promised tickets, visas, and all necessary facilities for the pilgrimage but were only given excuses and dates in return. The company was supposed to provide these services before February 8, however, on the evening of that date, the owner claimed to be ill and was admitted to the hospital.
The Beniyapukur police are now investigating the matter, and the situation has caused outrage among the community as many had saved up and trusted the travel company to facilitate their pilgrimage to the house of Allah.
It is a reminder of the importance of thorough research and due diligence when choosing a travel company. It is advisable to only deal with reputable and reliable companies that have a proven track record of providing quality services. It is also important to protect oneself from such scams by always ensuring that all agreements and payments are made in writing and never paying the full amount upfront without receiving any tickets or visas.
Umrah is a religious pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia that holds great significance for Muslims all over the world. It is considered a lesser pilgrimage in comparison to the Hajj, but it is still highly revered and considered a powerful act of worship. The act of performing Umrah is believed to purify the soul, bring the pilgrim closer to God, and provide forgiveness for past sins. It is a spiritual journey that allows the individual to disconnect from the distractions of everyday life and focus on their faith and devotion to Allah.
